Thank you for registering for the Hands-On Business Social on April 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.

We want this event to be a fun, interactive learning experience for you and your company. In order to do that, we ask that you start by doing a little homework.

Assignment: start a Facebook Page for your business. If you already have a personal Facebook page, you're halfway there.

Facebook is a social networking site used by more than 440,000,000 million people. If you're looking to tap the marketing potential of Facebook, you can create free Facebook Business pages—leveraging Facebook business options to provide a new channel for you to interact with your customers. At the same time these pages, can also help you acquire new customers as your Facebook fans spread the word about your business to their friends.

Step 1: Visit: http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=12839&ref_query=how+to+start+a+bus - !/pages/create.php

Step 2: Click on the icon that best describes your business. If requested, fill in the short form by selecting a) category b) typing in your business name 3) address 4) phone number and agreeing to Facebook's terms of agreement.

If you have a personal account, you will be asked to enter in your username and password. If you do not have a personal account, you will be prompted to create one. All you need is an e-mail address. If this is for work, you will be able to share the administrative access with others at your office by having them "like" the page and then giving them administrative approval.

Step 3: Upload your business logo, (small files work best.) Provide information about your business, contact information, hour of operation, and a general description that describes your business. Having a copy of your brochure or copying info from your company website is a good way to start this process. As you add more details about your business you can view the changes live on the page you are creating.

This is all you need to publish a basic Business Page on Facebook. To access this page again, simply login to Facebook and click on the "Account" button on the top right-hand side of the screen. When the menu drops down, click on "Use Facebook As Page," and select your business page from there. Please note, you will need at least 30 "fans" before your page has full promotional rights.

Want to know how to use your page to promote your company and others? Come to the Hands-On Business Social to learn more!
